A Life Built by Hand

I have always been drawn to things made by hand and shaped by real life.

A story written from memory. A song that finds you at the right time. A painting with texture. A piece of wood worked into something useful. A sentence that tells the truth. I like things that carry evidence of the person who made them. The mark of the hand. The grain. The scar. The weight. The honesty.

My creative work comes from the life I have lived and the faith that has carried me through it.

From being a husband and father trying to get it right. From raising sons and learning how much love, patience, faith, and persistence a family can require. From watching Liam fight to find his voice and understanding that some of the most powerful stories begin before the words arrive. From years behind a bar, and later teaching bartending in Tampa, where I learned that people often carry more than they show. From jobsites, lumber, concrete, tools, sweat, mistakes, repairs, and the kind of work where the materials do not lie.

Everything I make seems to come back to the same things: God, family, faith, memory, struggle, redemption, survival, love, and legacy.

I write about fathers and children, grief and lost opportunities, love that endures, and the fragile ember inside us that has to be protected when the darkness presses in. I paint, build, design, and shape objects because I believe creating something with your hands still matters. Whether it is a novel, an essay, a painting, a guitar, a piece of furniture, or a simple object made well, I am interested in work that feels honest and carries a little weight.

This site is where that work lives.

The books. The paintings. The music. The furniture. The essays. The ideas. The things made from faith, memory, pressure, and hope.

I do not see these as separate parts of my life. They are all made from the same material.

An honest life, shaped by God, worked by hand, and told as clearly as I know how.
